A 'Hush' falls over March 2025 comic-book sales
Word Balloons #1262: The return of Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee to "Batman" supercharged sales
Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee may have quieted their critics.
Looking back at the in-store sales at Speeding Bullet Comics in Norman, OK, for March 2025, “Batman” #158 topped the sales charts for new comics.
This first part of the “Batman: Hush 2” series is already the second-best-selling issue of 2025 with only six days of sales data.
The “Absolute” line from DC continues to be among the strongest sellers at Speeding Bullet. The launch of “Absolute Flash” nabbed the No. 2 spot, followed by “Absolute Batman” #6 at #3.
Absolute Superman #5 came in at No. 4, and “Absolute Martian Manhunter” by Deniz Camp and Javier Rodriguez launched at #5. “Absolute Batman” #3 from December continues to surge, landing at #6. “Absolute Wonder Woman” #6 finishes up the “Absolute” block at No. 7.
Marvel’s top seller comes in at No. 8 with “Ultimate Spider-Man” #15, followed at No. 9 by “Amazing Spider-Man” #69. Image’s first title on the countdown rounds out the top 10 with “Transformers” #18.
It’s perhaps not a surprise, but the Compact Classics Edition of “Batman: Hush” again topped the sales chart for graphic novels and collected editions. The sequel continues to drive interest in the original story.
In second place is a title from the relatively new “DC Finest” line, “The Origin of Plastic Man.”
“Invincible” Vol. 1 from Image Comics took the third spot. “Invincible” Vol. 2, “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Daredevil by Loeb & Sale” also followed on the sales charts. It’s pretty easy to track interest in these titles to the “Invincible” and “Daredevil” streaming series.
In the realm of back issues, “Batman” was among the top 5, but No. 1 with a bullet in back-issue sales for March was The Punisher. The “Daredevil: Born Again” series likely spurred interest in everyone’s favorite skull-shirt-wearing vigilante. The Man Without Fear also scored well for March, with the second-most back issues sold. “Invincible” and “Green Lantern” finished out the top 5. “Action Comics” and “Superman” were also in the mix. All of these titles have either current or upcoming media adaptations that could be driving interest.
