Celebrate ComicBooks for Kids weekend
Midweek update: Events will be held around the United States in support of charity
This weekend is "ComicBooks For Kids" weekend, which supports the largest comics donation charity in North America. Many comic shops will host events to promote and support the organization.
Founder and President Mark Weiss of ComicBooks For Kids was recently at the ComicsPRO conference to talk about the success the organization has had bringing hope and joy to children in hospitals around the world.
“As many of you know, ComicBooks For Kids! is the largest charity in the world (we have offices in Chicago and London) for comic books and pop culture items to children in hospitals and cancer centers,” Weiss wrote in an email to comics retailers. “Our sister charity ComicBooks For Troops provided over 100,000 comic books and graphic novels last year as we continue as the largest charity in our industry to all branches of the military for these items.”
Supporters include DC, Lunar, DCBS, IDW, Dark Horse, Scholastic, TFAW, TOKYOPOP, Kodansha, Archie, BCW, SideKick supplies, Paizo, Funko, Image, VIZ, Titan, Pez, Bendon, Zenescope, Boom and more.
“Our board of directors has three publishers on it, retailer participation and more,” Weiss wrote. “Many of you have also been supporters of us for some time now.”
