Christopher Reeve documentary film in theaters
Super/Man follows story of actor before, after tragic accident
Fans of Christopher Reeve, the late actor who played Superman in four theatrical films, may wish to see the film “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story,” in theaters for a limited engagement.
Reeve was a dynamic actor who brought life to both Clark Kent and Superman in blockbusters of the 1970s and 1980s and showed his range for drama and comedy in a host of other roles. Certainly, he’s the face that I and many of my generation see when picturing Superman.
In 1995, Reeve was injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident that left him paralyzed.
Reeve devoted the rest of his life to becoming an advocate for disability rights and a crusader for hope in finding cures and treatments for spinal injuries and paralysis. He continued to act and direct, appearing on the television show “Smallville,” among others.
“The Christopher Reeve Story” features home movies and other personal material interspersed with extended interviews with Reeve’s children, colleagues and friends.
The film can be seen Sept. 21 and Sept. 25 in theaters.
The film is a presentation of DC Studios, HBO Documentary Films, CNN Films and Words+Pictures.
