Fall Monster Sale this weekend at Speeding Bullet Comics
Midweek Update: Stock up for the cold-weather months
How often do you get to take part in a tradition that dates back to the 1990s?
This weekend you’ll get your chance. One of our favorite store traditions continues this October.
Speeding Bullet’s Fall Monster Sale starts Oct. 25 and runs through Oct. 27.
Speeding Bullet Comics, 614 N Porter Ave. in Norman, OK, hosts the sale for those savvy enough to get an invite. How do you qualify? Keep reading.
This sale goes back to the 1990s, where it precedes even Speeding Bullet. The store, then part of the Archives chain, had a semi-annual invitation-only subscriber sale twice a year. The store would open on a Sunday afternoon, in which it was generally closed, to allow subscribers who were up to date on their pull lists to get discounted back issues.
We’ve tweaked the sale since then, letting subscribers and others earn sale wristbands to indicate who qualifies for the sale, as we try to keep a bit of that exclusive feel.
So, in 2024, how can you qualify for the sale? There are multiple ways to get a sale wristband!
1. Be a subscriber in good standing at the shop OR
2. Be a Speeding Bullet Gold Member OR
3. Purchase a wristband for just $10 OR
4. Confirm your e-mail in-store for our weekly e-mail updates OR
5. Subscribe to Matt’s Substack right here!
— and show your subscription at the shop OR
6. Get one free with any in-store $50 purchase before Oct. 27.
The Monster Sale wristband makes you eligible for all the weekend’s savings.
Our Fall Monster Sale will feature 50 percent off many back issues and 25 percent off trade paperbacks!
During the sale, premium back issues ($25 and up) will be 25 percent off the currently marked price.
Back issues priced $24.99 and under will be 50 percent off. Buy more than 70 standard back issues and the discount jumps to 70%! (Comic book ’sets’ count as one issue for purposes of the sale.)
Plus, graphic novels are 25% off! (Does not include any graphic novels pre-ordered or in files or titles already discounted.)
Stock up for big savings! You know you need a big stack of stuff to read once it gets colder! Or even if it doesn’t.
If you’re in the shop this week, be sure to pick up a special Halloween issue of Comic Shop News, with lots of great ideas for spooky books, comics, toys and more!
