Free Comic Book Day is Saturday
Word Balloons #1266: Comic stores set to celebrate on May 3, 2025
Saturday, May 3, 2025, is Free Comic Book Day, during which comic book stores around the world give away selected comics to customers who visit.
Speeding Bullet Comics, 614 N. Porter Ave. in Norman, OK, will be giving away 5 selected comics per patron from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on May 3.
Speeding Bullet Comics will be celebrating with three great Oklahoma comic book creators: Michael “Gecko” Adams, Mario Wytch, and Breyden Boyd.
Oklahoma City comic creator Michael Adams is the creator of “Kung-Fu Legume” and the artist of “Zor” from Keenspot. In 2023, “Kung-Fu Legume” was optioned for an animated series. Check out Kung-Fu Legume and Zor on the cover of the 2025 “Keenspot Toybox” FCBD special.
Wytch’s credits include “Imaginary Drugs” from IDW, “Sasquatch” from Viper and “Fubar II: Empire of the Rising Dead,” among many others. Mario currently draws “Sister Powers” from Keenspot, written by Jeff McClelland.
Breyden Boyd is the head honcho of Shape Comics, home of “Shape Man.” The Silver Age-inspired comic follows a curious creature with shape-shifting abilities who crash lands on Earth, meets new friends, encounters enemies, and learns what it means to be a hero!
