Last week for Oklahoma comic seeking crowdfunding
Word Balloons #1176: Glamorella's Daughter #6 campaign going into its last days on Kickstarter
It’s down to the last week for an Oklahoma favorite seeking crowdfunding support.
Oklahoma-based publisher Literati Press is seeking to fund the sixth issue of “Glamorella’s Daughter” via a Kickstarter campaign.

“Glamorella’s Daughter,” by writer Charles J. Martin and artist Jerry Bennett is the story of a brilliant neuro-diverse girl with a superhero mother.
Kirkus Reviews calls the middle-grade comic-book series “exciting and thought-provoking.” It’s distributed by Literati Press, of which Martin is the founder and creative director.
Martin wrote about the struggles and successes of bringing the book to life in a recent update.
There's just so many ways they can go wrong and there are only so many people who can really be involved. Maybe it's one person grinding out this massive project. Maybe you have a writer too. Maybe an inker. Maybe a couple other artists splitting the art lift. But that's really it. No army to carry it over the finish line. Jerry and I are lucky we have lots of creative and editorial feedback from LP, but really most of the work falls on Jerry's shoulders as the artist and letterer.
The flip side of that is that, when a comic works, the creators know it was earned. It can't just be great visuals or a great story. It all has to work together. Everyone involved has to throw so much passion and energy into it for the story to hit readers in just the right way. It's really rewarding.
Martin’s full update, which is a really terrific paen to the creative process, can be read at Kickstarter and also at Facebook.
Bennett also discussed “Glamorella’s Daughter” and his love for “Ghostbusters” recently on the “Words, Images and Worlds” show, which can be watched on YouTube.
Need more from Jerry? He also appeared on the “Read My Lips” program, which can be seen on Facebook at the following link:

Fans who have wanted to get on Bennett’s commission list have an opportunity via the campaign – Bennett is offering Full Color 11x17 digital commissions for a $250 pledge.
“I opened up very limited number of these because I’m giving the ones who get these a lot of freedom,” Bennett wrote. “Still asking they be family-friendly.”
The ever-family-friendly Bennett says almost anything comic-book-themed goes, including possibly a cover for your own comic book idea.
The success of “Glamorella’s Daughter” has been a great thing so far for Oklahoma comics, and I wish Bennett and Martin all the best in the final week of their campaign, as they try to push their funding over the finish line. The campaign will close at 11 a.m. CDT on Saturday, August 26, 2023.
