Local filmmakers, actors, others in October spotlight
Midweek update: Some upcoming events that are worth a look
The October calendar can fill up pretty quickly with events, so in addition to some upcoming Speeding Bullet experiences, I wanted to highlight some Oklahoma happenings you might want to check out.
October 20: OKC 48-hour film screenings
I’ve been part of this competition several times and really enjoy it. This year’s competitors will screen their films on Friday night.
The teams had a 48-hour window to create their films, from script to finished product. Films are short; they must be a minimum of 4 minutes and a maximum of 7 minutes long.
The Premiere Screening of the films made for this year's OKC 48-Hour Film Project will happen in two blocks, group A at 7 p.m. and group B at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 for an individual block; an all-access pass for both blocks is $20.
Screenings will be held at Metro Technology Centers, 1900 Springlake Drive in Oklahoma City.

October 21-22: McAlester’s Hallows Con
This is the first year for the HallowsCon, a family-friendly event brought to you by New Class Wrestling, The City of McAlester, and CreatorsCon. Tickets are $20 for general admission; kids 6 and under are admitted for free.
The event will be held at the Southeast Expo Center 4500 West, 4500 US-270, McAlester, Oklahoma. Guests include former WWE wrestler Tatanka (Saturday only), “Power Rangers in Space” star Justin Nimmo, and Oklahoma musician/host/actor Christophe Murdock (Sunday only).

This Sunday event will feature comic-book artists and creators with $3 admission. Kids 12 and under are admitted free. Food trucks and costume contests are also on the agenda. Hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Glenpool Conference Center, 12205 S. Yukon Ave. in Glenpool, Oklahoma.
