For movie fans, “Venom: The Last Dance” hits theaters today. The third in the “Venom” series of films stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, an investigative journalist who is infected with an alien symbiote giving him superhuman powers as “Venom.”
Hardy told Cinema Daily US at New York Comic Con how having a character with such a “deliciously wicked” backstory as Venom gave him plenty of room to work as an actor.
“The opportunity to play and deepen the challenges you can have as an actor … And also understand against the canon of the huge amount of lore there is within the comic books. All the way from Todd McFarlane through to Donny (Cates) and Ryan (Stegman), you have this wonderful place to play. But also challenge yourself on the screen too. So it’s immersive.”
Venom’s adventures continue in the comics as well, with “Venom War” currently raging through the pages of Marvel Comics.
